The Orange County Foundation for Medical Care (OCFMC) was established in 1959 and has 50 years experience in providing medical management services. This foundation is one of fifteen foundations throughout the State of California that together form California’s largest statewide independent preferred and exclusive provider organization (PPO and EPO). Like other companies, we contract with private physicians, hospitals and ancillary health care providers to provide services at reduced fees, maintain strict hospital and physician utilization management, and offer a variety of administrative services which will help to manage health care expenditures. Where we differ from many of these organizations; however, is how we manage health care.
The first Foundation for Medical Care was formed to offer managed care services – without interfering with a patient’s basic right to select and receive medical care from the health care provider of their choice. In 2009, the Orange County Foundation celebrated its 50th year of delivering this very mission.
Orange County Preferred Provider Organization (OCPPO), an affiliated company was established in 1983 and has over 25 years in providing Third Party Administration and ancillary services to the Self Insured Industry. With more than 6,000 doctors in the network in Orange County alone, we offer the member one of the largest networks of providers from which to choose.
As a physician directed organization, we understand the value and highly sensitive nature of the doctor – patient relationship. By offering a comprehensive network of health care providers, careful utilization and peer review, detailed statistical reporting, centralized accountability, and most of all, personal service, we believe the Foundation offers the highest quality California health services available today.
